Are child seats mandatory in Cyprus?

Yes. Cyprus law requires children under 135 cm in height to use an appropriate child restraint — infant seat, child seat or booster — in any private vehicle, including taxis and private transfers.

Do Cyprus taxis carry child seats?

Most local taxis do not. Drivers are legally required to use restraints for children but in practice many simply seat the child without one. This is one of the main reasons families switch to pre-booked private transfers.

Does Only Cyprus Intercity provide child seats for free?

Yes. Infant seats (rear-facing), child seats and booster cushions are provided free of charge for every booking. Just tell us your child's age and weight when you book.

What types of child seats are available?

Three groups: rear-facing infant carriers for newborns up to about 13 kg, forward-facing child seats with five-point harness for ages roughly 1–4, and high-back boosters for ages roughly 4–10 (up to 135 cm).

How many child seats can fit in one vehicle?

Up to two child seats fit comfortably in the back of a Mercedes E-Class. The Mercedes V-Class accommodates three or more, which is why we recommend it for families of four or more or for groups with multiple children.

Is it safer to bring my own seat from home?

Both options are safe. If you bring your own, you avoid handling charges at the airport and your child is in a familiar seat. If you book a transfer that provides them, you save the hassle of carrying bulky seats through airports — the seats we use are EU-certified and regularly checked.

How far in advance should I request a child seat?

At the time of booking, ideally at least 24 hours before pick-up. This guarantees the correct seat is fitted in the vehicle assigned to you.

Do I need a child seat for a baby in arms?

Yes. Cyprus law does not permit infants to be held on a passenger's lap in a moving vehicle. A rear-facing infant carrier is required even for the airport transfer.
